Bad Sex Is Pandemic

Bad Sex Is Pandemic Linda Franklin The Real Cougar WomanBad sex is pandemic so says, Paul Nelson an  Erectile Dysfunction coach and patient educator. A prostate cancer survivor at 46, Paul discovered during his recovery from surgery, that there was almost no authentic information about erectile dysfunction anywhere on the internet.

In 2009, he founded www.franktalk.org, the first noncommercial website for ED. He is now president of the Erectile Dysfunction Foundation, Inc (501c3) the country’s only advocacy/support organization for men with sexual dysfunction.

Here’s what Paul has to say:

Every day I sit down with guys who tell me the same story. Something isn’t working. It’s always a combination of causes. But the underlying cause of it all is somewhere, somehow, someone spread a lot of rules about sex (really bad rules) that sex is a hard penis in a vagina (or any other orifice). Women are supposed to crave it; men can base their self-esteem on how long they can keep it there.

Part of the problem is that many guys aren’t sure what to do other than intercourse or oral sex. This is where the woman has a fantastic opportunity to teach – but for many reasons, many women continue to have sex by the same bad rules.

This is a letter I wrote this morning to a 37 year old guy who was having performance issues. He watches a lot of porn and he can stay hard. With his wife, he loses his erection. I could photocopy this letter and give it out to most of my guys.

Penis Pumps Funded by Medicare – What About HelpingThe Women?

Penis Pumps Funded by Medicare - What About HelpingThe Women? Linda Franklin The Real Cougar WomanAmerican taxpayers are spending $36 million a year on penis pumps to treat erectile dysfunction for Medicare patients.  After a political uproar that led to Viagra not being covered by Medicare, doctors began prescribing ‘male vacuum erection systems’ to patients — at an average cost of $338 each.

The pumps have skyrocketed in popularity since 2007, when Medicare ruled that Viagra, and similar drugs for erectile dysfunction, were ‘lifestyle’ drugs and not medically necessary.

Last year, Medicare paid out $36 million — more than 160,000 vacuum devices.

So, wait a damn minute!  Men always find a way to get help in treating their sexual dysfunction while women are left to twist in the breeze. Remember the disrespectful way women wanting a little insurance coverage for safe birth control were treated not so long ago?

Always, always the double standard.  Women aren’t supposed to be sexual beings and that’s why natural sexual enhancers like Zestra can’t get advertising spots on national television.  According to the American Medical Association, 43 percent of women suffer from sexual dysfunction, compared to 31 percent of men.

The question is when will we narrow the margins on this ugly double standard? On the outside it appears our country is so progressive when it comes to sex.  But, clearly that’s not the case.  What is OK for the man is definitely not OK for the women.

Sex Has No Expiration Date

by Linda Franklin – The Real Cougar Woman

Sex Has No Expiration Date by Linda Franklin The Real Cougar WomanWhen it comes to sex, there’s no such thing as as expiration date.  Sex is proven to be a good way to stay healthy, but it seems to have an extra special benefit in August.  Researchers from Boston State Hospital have found that summer sun at least doubles levels of the sex hormone testosterone.  So now have more fun in the sun takes on an entirely new meaning.

There are so many benefits of having sex on a regular basis and here are just a few that you may not be aware of.

Sex 3X a week halves the risk of heart attack or stroke – A study in Israel found that women who had two orgasms a week were up to 30 per cent less likely to have heart disease than those who didn’t enjoy sex or didn’t orgasm. ‘The endorphins released during sex also neutralize the stress hormones in the body, which are linked to heart disease.

Just a word of caution however –  if you’re over 50, overweight and unfit, there is a risk to your heart — just as there would be if you suddenly and vigorously took up any form of exercise.

Sex Strenthens Your Bones – Menopausal women who have sex every week have estrogen levels twice as high as their abstaining counterparts. Estrogen protectsbone health and losing it after menopause has been linked with osteoporosis.

Sex Helps You Quit Smoking – Here’s a simple way to get your man to kick his smoking habit — remind him that it causes the penis to shrink and can cause impotence. Erections are all about good blood flow, and lighting up worsens blood flow to the spongy tissues in the penis. As a result, it is starved of oxygen and become fibrotic — forming scar tissue — which is less elastic and less able to expand during an erection than regular healthy tissue.’  Smoking is also a known cause of erectile dysfunction as it causes hardening of the arteries and hampers good blood flow.

Sex Is A Natural Sedative – For a man, a powerful orgasm is the equivalent of having a 2-3mg shot of diazepam (or Valium).  It works as a muscle relaxant which is why so many men nod off after finishing — there really is a biological reason.  The endorphins released during sex can really help treat depression and clear the mind.\

Sex Guards Against Incontinence –  If a woman is active during sex, it’s a good workout for her pelvic floor muscles. The muscles that stem the flow of urine, reducing leakage and incontinence, all benefit and this reduces the risk of stress incontinence and prolapse later in life. After having children many women don’t have the time to do dedicated pelvic floor exercises, so sex provides this natural workout.

Sex doesn’t come with an expirtation date.  There are people in their 80’s having sex on a regular basis.  Look at sex as the most fun workout ever. Just lay back and enjoy the benefits.

Women’s Sexual Pleasure & The Double Standard

A zestra You know, if you've been reading my blogs, that I have a big gripe – and that is the existing double standard which is so unfair to women. Many would argue that it doesn't exist, but it really does and it's keeping important issues out of the public spotlight.  But, yesterday there was big breakthrough.  The outdated double standard was outed by none other than The New York Times.
Abby Ellin at Times wrote a fabulous article on my new blog sexperts Mary Jaensch, CEO and Rachel Braun Scherl, President of Semprae. They are the fabulous twosome who manufacture Zestra, the all natural product that enhances a women's sexual pleasure. This is an article you need to read because it highlights the double standard at work – and it ain't pretty.
