Shirley MacLaine Arrives At Downton Abbey

by Linda Franklin Shirley MacLaine Arrives At Downton Abbey Linda Franklin The Real Cougar WomanIn the new episodes of Downton Abbey, Martha (Shirley MacLaine) came crunching down the drive. She was wearing jazz shoes, what appeared to be a fur papoose and a frozen expression on her face. As Lady Grantham’s American mother, Martha’s job is to patronize the English and their stuffy ways at every opportunity.
I’m not sure but it seems the Brits don’t appreciate Shirley as much as I do. They report her little dolly face seems slightly out of place amid the lush velvets and sprinkling of aristocratic Downton dust.  And then they added – did they even have Botox and crafty pearly highlighter in them days?  Guess you have to be British to appreciate that stinging attempt at humor.
Shirley doesn’t need me to stick up for her, but I will anyway.  She is a  multi-talented pro that excels in everything she does.  How many of us can say that?  She’s an actress, author, dancer, singer and spiritual pioneer. Shirley is  wonderful example of what it means to be a Real Cougar Woman – smart, independent, loving life and not allowing age to get in the way.  None of that was mentioned in the British tabloid I read.   Instead they wrote, “Shirley seems to be acting to a different beat, but maybe she gets her stage directions on a time loop straight from Cecil B. DeMille himself?”  Ouch – are they serious!
I haven’t watched Downton Abbey is past seasons, but now that Shirley is part of the cast I am going to tune in.
The Real Cougar Woman is a 5-carat diamond who knows the importance of taking care of her health, beauty, relationships, finances and spirituality. Linda Franklin says,”there is no stopping a woman who has a strong belief system, passion and a dream. All things are possible”. Linda’s book, Don’t Ever Call Me Ma’am helps women of all ages tap into their power and live life to the fullest.
