7 Fabulous Fashion Tips For Looking Chic Not Desperate

Fabulousafter40 deb and jojami Looking chic not desperate is not as easy as you may think. We all want to be that woman who mixes and matches clothes and always ends up looking fabulous. Too often, though we go overboard, trying too hard and that just doesn't work. Bad look

So how can we prevent crossing over into  desperate territory? Just follow these 7 Tips that will never let you down.

 1. Don’t do “matchy- matchy”

Playing it too safe by matching everything is the road to disaster. For example, you are wearing a red shirt and cream pants and then you see the “exact” color red shoes that match perfectly, so you are tempted to buy them. Don’t do it. Instead, a simple nude shoe will let the top speak for itself. What about the matching red purse? You might pull that off with the nude shoe, but certainly not with all three!

2.   Beware of Accessory Overload

This is easy to spot and simple to avoid. Just don’t wear too many accessories at once. This summer the straw fedora is a big trend. If you wear a fedora, keep the rest of the outfit simple. No big earrings, belts, or chunky necklaces necessary. A bracelet or cuff will be all that you need to finish the look.

3.   Don't  Go Wild with Animal Prints

There is nothing like a bit of leopard to make you feel a little naughty. But, please only one animal print per outfit.. (Review rule #1 if you feel the need to wear more).

4.   Avoid Going Brand Crazy

You’re a mature woman you don’t need to show the world that you can afford designer brands with logo plastered all over them. A single, small logo, let’s say on a lovely, high end handbag  is fine but, make sure you aren’t going logo crazy on all your clothes and accessories.

5.  Forget Fakes

You can find a knock off of almost anything these days, but unfortunately those that can afford the real thing can spot a fake a mile away. Much better to just buy something of quality that you can afford, than try to impress someone with an imitation.

6.   Be Careful with Biker Chic

Black leather and studs can be a “cool” look, but it can also make you look like an old biker mama if you don’t do it just right. Every gal should have a wonderful leather jacket, but why not substitute black for a cobalt blue, red, peach, or any other brighter color. You’ll still feel sexy, but you’ll look less harsh.

7.   Move Over Make-up Madness!

To look well put together and at ease in your clothes, you’re make-up is also key. Too much black eyeliner, too much white under eye concealer, bright red lips should all be softened especially as we mature. Less is more. Don’t hide under a mask. Let your true beauty shine through!
