Last week Time.com published an article entitled “The Science of Cougar Sex” – Why Older Women Lust. As you might imagine with a title like that it was written by a man, in this case John Cloud. He writes that men who cheat on their spouses have always enjoyed an expedient explanation: Evolution made me do it. So the question at hand was – does evolution play a part in women’s sexuality? Is she more driven by more by celluar memory than her own free will?
A new journal article suggests that evolutionary forces do play a part in a women’s sexuality and that women in their 30s and early 40s are significantly more sexual than younger women. Women ages 27 through 45 report not only having more sexual fantasies (and more intense sexual fantasies) than women ages 18 through 26 but also having more sex, period. And they are more willing than younger women to have casual sex, even one-night stands. In other words, despite the girls-gone-wild image of promiscuous college women, it is women in their middle years who are America’s most sexually industrious.
I won’t bore you with any more details. because I think the studies used are flawed. But go ahead and read the article for yourself so you can tell me what you think.
Here’s my theory.
I believe for women of any age sexual passion is triggered much more from our brains than other parts of our bodies. If we are provided with the right stimulus (body, mind and spirit) then we are ready to unleash that Real Cougar every woman has inside of her. Yes, as we get closer to menpause, we might need to engage in a little hormonal rebalancing to rekindle the fire, but then sex if better than ever, providing it’s with the right man.
