Is the term "cougar" really that bad? As you might imagine I have talked to hundreds of women about that very issue and I get more thumbs up than disapprovers. I believe The Real Cougar Woman has worked hard to earn her stripes and should be proud to where the label. It's not an embarrassment to be a fabulous female who knows what she wants and how to get it.
Debbie Nigro of First Wives World is in favor of changing the term. She thinks it's demeaning to women. In fact she's offering radio stations, newspapers, and TV shows the opportunity to run a contest to find a better label.
In my opinion, it's better to debunk the myth than to come up with a new moniker. Here's the thing. Smart, confident, proud to be over 40 women have to stick together and raise the bar. The best way to do that is by example. Be living proof that we're loving our lives and aren't the desperate caricature portrayed in the media. We're not cleavage and bling. We're brains and beauty.
Having a relationship with a younger man is just small slice of the cougar pie. There is a lot going on in our lives. And come on, let's be serious, having younger guys vying for our attention isn't such a bad thing is it?
