Penis Pumps Funded by Medicare – What About HelpingThe Women?

Penis Pumps Funded by Medicare - What About HelpingThe Women? Linda Franklin The Real Cougar WomanAmerican taxpayers are spending $36 million a year on penis pumps to treat erectile dysfunction for Medicare patients.  After a political uproar that led to Viagra not being covered by Medicare, doctors began prescribing ‘male vacuum erection systems’ to patients — at an average cost of $338 each.

The pumps have skyrocketed in popularity since 2007, when Medicare ruled that Viagra, and similar drugs for erectile dysfunction, were ‘lifestyle’ drugs and not medically necessary.

Last year, Medicare paid out $36 million — more than 160,000 vacuum devices.

So, wait a damn minute!  Men always find a way to get help in treating their sexual dysfunction while women are left to twist in the breeze. Remember the disrespectful way women wanting a little insurance coverage for safe birth control were treated not so long ago?

Always, always the double standard.  Women aren’t supposed to be sexual beings and that’s why natural sexual enhancers like Zestra can’t get advertising spots on national television.  According to the American Medical Association, 43 percent of women suffer from sexual dysfunction, compared to 31 percent of men.

The question is when will we narrow the margins on this ugly double standard? On the outside it appears our country is so progressive when it comes to sex.  But, clearly that’s not the case.  What is OK for the man is definitely not OK for the women.

The Real Cougar Woman is a 5-carat diamond who knows the importance of taking care of her health, beauty, relationships, finances and spirituality. Linda Franklin says,”there is no stopping a woman who has a strong belief system, passion and a dream. All things are possible”. Linda’s book, Don’t Ever Call Me Ma’am helps women of all ages tap into their power and live life to the fullest.

Business Week’s Spin On Cougars

Here's what it said: The Real Cougar Woman offers virtual group therapy for women contemplating cougarness and includes ads for beauty magazines, cougar books, Zestra "essential arousal oils," and links to "sexperts," nutritionists, trainers, salons, and fashion boutiques.  Ok I told you I wasn't interviewed.  I wish I had been because I have a lot to say about women of all ages and its very different than anything I read in this article.

Sexual Satisfaction and How Real Cougars Are Getting Back Their Sizzle

Mary and rachel We hear it all the time -  sex has lost it's sizzle. In fact, loss of sexual desire has reached reached epidemic proportions in this country.  That's why Mary and I recently sponsored a symposium inviting health editors of leading consumer publications  to hear the latest findings released by internationally recognized sexual health, wellness and relationship experts.  Their cutting-edge research revealed some interesting reasons why Americans are experiencing, what Dr.Mehmet Oz has identified as a “sexual famine”.

Dr. Susan Kellogg, internationally recognized sex and wellness authority, explored the neurochemistry behind sexual response.   According to Kellogg, new experiences in which we engage in with partners (including activities that may be new or induce excitement or a sense of quasi-danger) can help to activate chemicals in the brain….notably dopamine and norepineprine.  The result is that couples feel more romantically exhilarated. Another chemical..oxytocin…generally released upon sexual stimulation and orgasm….can heighten romantic and sexual response, too.

In the most recent national sex study published released in September, the truth about women and orgasms was revealed.   Men’s perceptions of women reaching orgasm did not match reality.  Women were having fewer orgasms than men imagined.

Dr. Oz Says “Americans Are Experiencing A Sexual Famine”

Mary and rachel

According to Dr. Mehmet Oz, we are not living to our fullest potential. This is because Americans are experiencing a sexual famine. That’s right. Despite all the media hype, we are starved for sex. especially sex that is linked to real intimacy.

The research we do at Semprae confirms that Dr. Oz is right. Women are investing their time and effort in so many areas, but unfortunately, their sexual satisfaction takes a back seat to all of the other demands.

We want big houses, new cars, and are obsessed with collecting shoes.  In fact, on average, women own 19 pairs of shoes, with 15% of women owning at least 30 pairs, according to the Consumer Reports National Research Group.  And, we are logging more hours at work than any other nation on earth to pay for all this feasting.

Dr Oz says "we’re not having sex anymore and we’re not doing things that bring us joy. People need sex, which is a predictor of human longevity and health,” he maintains.   Naysayers dispute his contention, pointing to popular culture’s obsession with sex and women reporting a rise in multiple sex partners.  But stack us up with the rest of the world, and sex is an area where Americans fall short.
