Sexism Lives But Real Cougars Knocking 'Em Dead

No, you are not imagining it,  Sexism is alive and still a big problem for women in the workplace. Appearance counts as much as, and sometimes more than, ability.

In a survey done my Marie Claire, 78 per cent of respondents said that being attractive helps them advance at work. And, when they were asked what would have the biggest impact on climbing the career ladder, it was having a mentor.

Okay, so allow me to mentor you.

 Make no mistake – looking good is important.  You don't have to be raving beauty but it sure helps to make an effort to be attractive.

I agree, having a mentor is essential in getting ahead. Finding that right person reaps huge benefits. However, a mentoring relationship carries a responsibility from both people involved.

The mentor must be smart, experienced, confident, and, under no circumstances suffer from insecurity.  They have to be willing to teach you everything they know, knowing that there is the possibility you will surpass them.

The mentee must be a sponge who is loyal, curious, brave and trusting.  A good mentor will test your limits and you have to fearless, even when you are scared to death.

Is getting what you want in the workplace impossible?  Of course not.  Real Cougars know you just have to prepare the right game plan.
